I found and am thrilled to share a very cool site that would make ME excited to write (so I sure hope it works for you & your students, too.)
The site is Scholastics Story Starters. It doesnt take much explaining, so Ill just put a few screenshots here to show you how awesome it is
You can pick the genre: Adventure, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or Scrambler
Then, students enter their names and choose their grade levels. (The writing tasks really do differ by grade level!)
This is the really fun part! Click on the spin wheel and the required story elements are generated for you! If you want to change just one, you can click on those buttons below each element. It is so fun to watch and see what kind of writing prompt is created!

Scholastic's Story Starters is a free online resource that gets kids' creative juices flowing by providing them with four story themes and endless ideas. The cool thing is that each time they sit down for some story creation, they end up with a final product that they can print, download, save, and share.
You can use Story Starters online, allowing kids to work independently, or you can use the resource as a collaborative, group activity.
Here's how it works:
Go to the Story Starters homepage and choose a theme: Adventure, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or Scrambler. Then,
1. Enter your children's names and grades: K-1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th-6th.
