Here is the first-ever film in Irula language
A feature film is being made for the first time in the Irula language, which is spoken by the minority tribe that lives in the Nilgiris and a few parts of Kerala and Karnataka. Titled Netaji, the movie, directed by Vijeesh Mani, deals with the mysterious disappearance of Subash Chandra Bose, conflict between the ideologies of Bose and Mahatma Gandhi and parental woes.
Rajesh, who plays a man from the tribe, says, “This is officially the first film which will have its characters conversing in the Irula language, which is similar to Tamil in many ways. The movie stars veteran producer Gokulam Gopalan and Master Alok, who made heads turn with the recent Mollywood film, 9. Gopalan plays an ardent follower of Bose, who also worked with him decades ago, while Issac plays a hardcore Gandhian. Another actor, Roji, will be seen essaying the role of a Maoist.”
The movie has been shot in the forests of Attapadi, with MJ Radhakrishnan as the cinematographer and Harikumar Madhavan as the sound designer. The movie was completed in 13 days with sync sound. Vijeesh Mani, who had produced Kathrikka Vendakka in Tamil, had earlier directed acclaimed film like Vishwaguru and Puzhayamma.
