Not everyone knows that Ysabel Ortega is actually the daughter of actor and senator Lito Lapid and actress Michelle Ortega.
In an interview on "Updated with Nelson Canlas," the "Voltes V: Legacy" star shared the personal reason behind her not using her real name, Ysabel Lapid, as her screen name.
"I guess part din of why I'm not as vocal about [who my biological father] is because 'yun nga, I also wanna make a name for myself," she said.
"Sobrang laking bagay sa akin and self-fulfillment ko rin 'yon," she added.
Ysabel said that she also wants to be given a fair chance when she goes on auditions.
"Fair na hindi naman nila kilala 'yung parents ko para hindi rin magkaroon ng ganung judgment na, 'Ah baka nakuha niya yon dahil…' or, 'Baka akala niya makukuha niya 'yon dahil anak siya ni ganito, anak siya ni ganyan,' di ba?" she said.

Ortega graduated with a political economy degree from the University of Asia and the Pacific. She is keen on continuing her studies and is currently taking up law.[6]
